Nearby

While you are in the area

Our farm sits within easy reach of some of Maharashtra’s finest heritage.

  • 30

    km

    Ellora Caves

    About 45 minutes

Thirty-four rock-cut temples carved straight down into the hillside, Buddhist, Hindu and Jain side by side. Kailasa alone took a century. A UNESCO World Heritage Site.

  • 100

    km

    Ajanta Caves

    About 2 hours 15 minutes

Thirty caves in a horseshoe of rock above the Waghora river, holding the finest surviving paintings of ancient India. Lost to the forest for a thousand years. A UNESCO World Heritage Site.

  • 15

    km

    Daulatabad Fort

    About 30 minutes

A hill fort on a cone of rock, with a moat, a dark spiral passage cut through stone, and a climb that earns you the view. Once, briefly, the capital of an empire.

  • 30

    km

    Grishneshwar Temple

    About 45 minutes

The last of the twelve Jyotirlingas, in red rock beside Ellora. Small, old and busy with pilgrims — worth seeing on the same trip as the caves.

  • 5

    km

    Bibi ka Maqbara

    About 15 minutes

Aurangzeb's son built this for his mother in the shadow of the Taj, and it has been compared to it unkindly ever since. Seen on its own terms, it is lovely.

Distances are approximate, measured from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar city.

Questions

About visiting

Do I need to book in advance?
Yes, always. We cook for the exact number of people coming, so we need at least two days' notice — three for a hurda party, because the crop has to be cut for you. Please do not arrive without calling first.
What does the price include?
Breakfast, lunch and evening tea, a guided walk through the fields and dal mill, drinking water, seating, clean washrooms and parking. For a hurda party, the hurda itself as well. Fruit you pluck to take home is weighed and charged separately.
What do you charge for children?
Children between five and twelve are ₹450. Children under five come free. Above twelve we count as adults, at ₹600.
When exactly is hurda season?
Roughly December to February, but hurda follows the crop and not the calendar. The jowar is only tender for a few weeks and the exact window shifts each year with the rain. Call us before fixing a date and we will tell you honestly whether it is ready.
What kind of food do you serve?
A full vegetarian Maharashtrian thali, cooked in our own kitchen from what we grow. Bhakri and chapati, a rassa bhaji and a dry one, varan bhaat, koshimbir, papad, loncha and a sweet. We can cook Jain or without onion and garlic if you tell us when you book.
What should we bring?
Closed shoes, because the ground is uneven. Something warm if you are coming in December or January, when mornings are genuinely cold. A hat between March and May. Everything else, we have.
Can you host a large group?
Yes. We regularly host families, office groups and school visits. For twenty-five people or more, call us rather than using the form — we will work out a rate and plan the day properly with you.
