About Vasuri
A family farm, and why we opened its gate.
Vasuri is a family farm at Rajura in Gangapur taluka — a short drive from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, and a long way from the noise of it.
We grow tur, moong, soybean, corn and wheat. We have nine hundred guava trees, fifty papaya, and a hundred teak along the boundary. We run our own dal mill, and we are setting up a kachi ghani ghana for groundnut oil.
Growing without chemicals was a deliberate decision. It is not the easy path — yields are lower, the work is harder, and the fruit does not come out supermarket-uniform. But our own family eats this food, and we want to be certain about it.
We opened the farm to visitors because most people have never seen where food comes from. Children have not plucked fruit from a tree, or watched a dal mill run, or eaten hurda off a fire. We like showing people. And honestly, it helps pay for farming the careful way.
What we hold to
Four things we do not bend on
No chemical spraying
Not at any stage, not on any crop. It is an easy thing to claim, which is why we say it out loud — come and see for yourself.
We eat what we grow
Our own family eats the food from these fields. That is the standard we hold it to.
Nobody in between
We grow it, we mill it, we sell it. You can ask which field something came from.
We do not claim what we do not have
There is no lift, no reception desk and no swimming pool. We are a farm, and we say so.

The orchard
Nine hundred guava trees
Guava is the crop this farm is best known for. In season, from August to November, you can smell the orchard from the gate.
We do not spray, gas-ripen or wax the fruit. Our guava looks less uniform for it, and tastes considerably more like guava. Come in season and pick your own.
